DAYTON, Ohio - Community Blood Center is calling on donors to support the "Time to Be Great Blood Drive" Friday, May 21 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dayton CBC Donation Center, 349 South Main St. Register to donate and receive a Kroger $10 gift card, plus the new "Blood Donors are the GOAT" t-shirt.

There is no deferral or delay in donating blood after receiving any COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments are required.  Schedule online at or call (937) 461-3220.

Usage has been higher than collections for type O blood and CBC is struggling to maintain supply. Type O donors are encouraged to donate when able.

CBC anticipates high demand for blood as the Memorial Day weekend approaches. COVID-19 continues to impact the blood supply, even as society returns to pre-pandemic activities. Corporate and high school blood drives remain below traditional size and will take time to rebuild.

CBC has launched the "Blood Donors are the GOAT - Greatest of All Time" campaign to encourage people to donate during the summer months despite the distractions of the holidays, vacation travel, and outdoor activities. Donors can collect all three GOAT t-shirt designs by donating three times during the May 3 through Oct. 30 campaign.

Goals of the GOAT campaign include recruiting more daily donors at the Dayton CBC, more first-time donors, and more blood drive sponsors. Call (937) 461-3220 to learn how you can help.
