SEASON OF HOPE & GIVING BEGINS WITH HOLIDAY LIGHTS BLOOD DRIVE

November 15, 2021

DAYTON, Ohio - Community Blood Center is urging donors to let their Christmas spirit shine this holiday season, especially with the ongoing shortage of type O blood.

CBC begins a push to keep the blood supply strong through the holidays and early winter with the Nov. 19-20 "Holiday Lights Blood Drive" at the Dayton CBC Donation Center, 349 S. Main St.

Everyone who registers to donate Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Dayton CBC can choose a free ticket to Kings Island Winterfest or the Renaissance Festival Yuletide Village. Both events feature dazzling arrays of holiday lights to enjoy with family and friends.

All registered donors also receive the "Hometown Hero" fleece blanket. Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are accepted as space allows. Schedule online at www.DonorTime.com or call (937) 461-3220.

Blood type O remains in low supply and CBC is counting on "Hometown Heroes" to prevent an emergency shortage. CBC is closed for Thanksgiving Day and there are very few mobiles scheduled during the holiday week.

The holiday season is an important month to donate. Many businesses and organizations are not hosting blood drives due to continued COVID-19 related restrictions and people have less time to donate due to holiday activities and travel.

The "Holiday Light Blood Drive" will be followed by the "Thanks for Giving Blood Drive" Nov. 22-27 at the Dayton CBC. Everyone who registers to donate will get a Kroger $10 gift card.

CBC needs new donors, including new platelet and plasma donors, and new blood drive sponsors. Call (937) 461-3220 to learn how you can help.
