DAYTON, Ohio - Community Blood Center is facing a critical need for type O blood following the July 4th weekend.  Help replenish the blood supply by making an appointment to donate at, call (937) 461-3220, or download the new Donor Time app.

Usage outpaced collections of type O blood during the holiday weekend. The Dayton CBC Donation Center operated on special hours Sunday, July 3 but there were no collections on Monday, July 4. CBC must average 300 donors per day to meet area hospital demands.

The July 4th holiday week is a critical time to give blood because there are fewer blood drives scheduled and donors' schedules are altered by vacations and travel.

CBC is encouraging donations through the holiday week by offering a $10 Speedway gas card and the new "Hit a Double" insulated beverage bottle to everyone who registers to donate Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday July 9 at the Dayton CBC Donation Center.

CBC will host a Ritter's Frozen Custard Bar for donors Friday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dayton CBC.
